USB Well Box Mailer

A USB mailer is a custom-printed box that holds a USB flash drive and travels through the mail, so a brand can hand-deliver digital content as a physical piece. The USB Well Box is Red Paper Plane's version, a printed paperboard box with a recessed well that holds and displays the drive you supply. It measures 4 by 7 inches and sits in the promotional well boxes line, which covers other well sizes for different premiums.

You can customize the full printed surface of the well box with your own artwork, logo, colors, and messaging. You supply the print-ready design or start from Red Paper Plane's template, and you set the order quantity and whether to add mailing.

To add your logo and artwork, you download the print template for the well box, place your design in it, and upload the file when you order. We then return a 3D proof so you can review the printed box before it goes to production. Nothing prints until you approve the proof.

The cost of a custom flash drive mailer depends on your order quantity, whether you add mailing, and the drive you supply. Postage is billed separately from the box because the piece mails through USPS by weight and zone, and supplying your own drives may add a fulfillment fee based on the premium cost. Larger runs lower the per-unit cost, so a box in a several-thousand-piece run costs less each than a one-off.

USB mailers can support response rates for marketing because a dimensional piece the recipient holds is harder to ignore than a flat mailer or an email. A drive on someone's desk turns digital content into something physical, which is why agencies use these for pitches, product launches, and high-value account outreach. Results still depend on your list, your offer, and what is on the drive, so the format supports a strong campaign rather than guaranteeing one.

The mailer does not include a flash drive. You supply the drive, and the box is the branded mailer. Choose its capacity, and load your content onto it before the pieces are assembled.

The recessed well measures 2.725 inches by 1.22 inches by 0.375 inches, so standard stick or card-style drives should be checked against that clearance before a full run. Very large or novelty-shaped drives can be too big for the well, so check your drive against the box before committing to a full run. For a premium bulkier than a flash drive, the large well box mailer gives you a deeper, roomier well.

Production schedules are set at order time. Current guidance lists 1 to 499 pieces at 5 to 7 business days, 500 to 2,499 at 7 to 10 business days, and larger runs taking longer. If you add mailing, allow another 2 to 7 business days based on quantity. Smaller orders can ship in as few as 7 days start to finish.

Yes, we can mail the finished boxes straight to your contact list. You supply the mailing list and return address, and the team inserts each piece into a USPS-approved envelope, applies the label and postage, and drops the campaign into the mail. Presort pricing is available on larger mailings, and postage is billed separately from the boxes.
