Bona U.S. Promotes New Product with the Flapper
What is a business in a crowded marketplace to do when looking to bring consumers’ attention to a new product or service? Create a marketing piece their audience has never seen before!
Graphic Designer, Omar Scarborough, was tasked with designing a direct mail piece for his employer, Bona U.S. The purpose of the piece was to help launch an oil-based stain for hardwood floors. He said the team had a sample pack they had received from Red Paper Plane and remembered it contained one particularly unique piece inside - the Flapper.
“We wanted to educate our contractors on the new product and show them examples of what it could do,”
Omar said, "the multiple facades of the Flapper allowed us to show several images and break-up the content into sections.”

However, for Bona US, the team did things a bit differently.
Aside from upgrading the paper to a thicker stock, Omar and his team opted to have a soft-touch UV applied. The thicker paper gave it more of a premium feel while the soft-touch UV assisted in driving home the message that the company’s new product will take customers’ floors and make them feel soft and velvety.
“We have already received a lot of positive feedback,” he said. “It was presented at our national sales meeting and it was a big hit. We’ve also had one person email us saying that it’s the coolest piece of marketing material they have seen in a long time.”
